Trailer for Taylor Lautner Thriller ‘Abduction’

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for John Singleton’s Abduction, a chase thriller starring breakout Twilight star Taylor Lautner. Of course, they debuted it on MTV:

In case you missed it, we peeked at a draft of Shawn Christensen’s script last year following the studio bidding war to acquire its rights. Essentially, the plot follows Nathan (Lautner), a “t-shirt and jeans type” and an ordinary high school teenager who discovers his parents (Maria Bello and Jason Isaacs) aren’t who they claim to be. When shady gunmen show up on his doorstep, Nathan and his classmate Karen (Lily Collins) go on the run.
The trailer is about what I expected, a young Bourne meets the paranoia of Eagle Eye and the mystery of Wanted. But while its flashy set pieces make for an exciting trailer, the simple trajectory and weak pay-off are sure to frustrate anyone expecting more than a sizzle reel to pad Lautner’s short resume.

Twilight’s Taylor Lautner has been cast as the superhero Max Steel.

Deadline reports the 17-year-old will play a “19-year-old extreme sports junkie recruited by a secret agency after an accident infects his body, leaving him with superhuman powers.”

Let’s hope this isn’t another Speed Racer!

Taylor Lautner is Tremendous at Teen Vogue

Taylor Lautner hits the red carpet at the 7th Annual Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party in L.A. on Friday (September 25).

The 17-year-old Twilight actor attended the star-studded event, rubbing elbows with young celebs including Selena Gomez, iCarly’s Miranda Cosgrove and HSM alum Ashley Tisdale.

While Taylor may look like he’s a tough guy, he has a soft side, too - he recently told Boxoffice Magazine that one of his favorite movies is The Notebook. “I don’t think I should be embarrassed to admit it though - it’s a great movie,” he says. “I’m not embarrassed. I’m saying it proudly.”
