It's official! Cheryl Cole WILL be a judge on the U.S. version of X Factor

By SARAH FITZMAURICE

I'm in! Cheryl Cole is excited to be heading stateside for the U.S. version of the show where she will sit next to Simon Cowell and LA Reid on the judging panel

After months of speculation, the wait is finally over - it has been confirmed that Cheryl Cole WILL be appearing as a judge on the U.S. version of The X Factor.

In a statement released today, the British singer is confirmed as a judge on the talent show - joining Simon Cowell and Antonio 'LA' Reid on the judging panel.

Cheryl, 27, has already voiced her excitement about the new role searching for the talent America has to offer and said she is ready to battle it out against Cowell on the first series.

Ready for battle: Cheryl can't wait to get the first series of the American version of the X Factor show underway and is looking to beat Simon Cowell as she has in the U.K. show

Cole said: 'I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of The X Factor. I absolutely love it here in the UK, and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special.'

She added: 'I can’t wait to get started. I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me.

'He’s tried to beat me for three years in the UK, and hasn’t even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this.'

Great chemistry: Fox bosses have praised Cheryl's talent as a judge and have said America will love the way she interacts with Simon Cowell

Cowell, who has championed the Geordie singer in the U.S., said: 'I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with.'

He added: 'She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.'

The confirmation about her X Factor role comes only days before auditions are held this Sunday, May 8, in specially-built high-definition recording studios in Honolulu, Phoenix, Nashville, Anchorage, Kansas City and Denver.

Auditions will continue in Dallas on May 26.

The U.S. version of The X Factor is set to be the biggest and best yet with the winner scooping a recording contract worth $5 million.

Split-a-Porter: It's finally over for couple who built £350million online fashion empire

By Sara Nathan

Fashion flair: Natalie Massenet with Victoria Beckham at Net-a-Porter's 10th birthday party

A fashion boss who sold a stake in her online business for £50million, has separated from the man who helped her turn it into a global empire.

The driving force behind Net-a-Porter, Natalie Massenet had been married to Arnaud Massenet, a French hedge fund manager, for 15 years.

The couple, who have two daughters, Isabella, 11, and Ava, five, yesterday confirmed the ‘amicable’ split in a statement issued through their lawyers.

Mrs Massenet was recently revealed to have become the new sole owner of a £15.5million home in North London and Mr Massenet was spotted with another woman while on holiday in Ibiza.

Widely regarded as changing the way women shop for high-end fashion and couture items, Mrs Massenet’s website has become a global phenomenon valued at £350million.

When she created the business more than a decade ago, online shopping was in its infancy, but the Net-a-Porter site now has two million visitors a month.

Mrs Massenet met her husband at Notting Hill carnival in the early 1990s and promptly moved from Los Angeles to London to be with him. They were engaged inside a month.

Three years later, while working as a fashion editor at Tatler magazine, she had a bright idea for a website where women could find and buy their favourite luxury brand wherever they lived in the world.

Honoured: Natalie Massenet received an MBE in 2009 for her services to the fashion industry at Buckingham Palace with her husband Arnaud

In interview, she has credited her husband with giving her the support and confidence to set up the business.

He helped her to raise the £1.2million investment capital for an project analysts said was doomed.

She set the business up on the kitchen table at her Chelsea studio flat with just two employees.

She reminisced: ‘I borrowed a creaky laptop from my husband, went into the web and never came back.'

At the time, she was pregnant with her first child, but her enthusiasm made up for her lack of experience.

‘I was so naïve,’ she admitted. ‘I picked up a brochure from Barclays Bank that said "Are you an entrepreneur?" and took it home with me. Then my husband explained the basics of capitalism.’

Mrs Massenet has admitted being a workaholic who struggles to maintain a balance between home and business.

She has said: ‘I don’t make home-made cupcakes for cupcake day. I pick them up in the store, and it’s heartbreaking when you hear that some mom stayed up all night baking.’

The only child of an English mother and an American father, Mrs Massenet was raised in Paris and moved to Los Angeles to live with her father at the age of 11.

Mrs Massenet has been working long hours on her latest project, Mr Porter, an online male clothing business that launched in March.

She then indicated her marriage was in trouble after revealing that Mr Massenet did not even know about the project.

Last April, before buying the London home from former BSkyB executive Mark Booth and his sculptress wife Lauren, Mrs Massenet sold a £50million stake in Net-a-Porter to the Swiss luxury goods business Richemont, owner of Cartier and Montblanc.

She celebrated the deal with margaritas with Mr Massenet and the rest of her team – some of whom had been with her since day one and were turned into millionaires by the deal.

Mrs Massenet, who was awarded an MBE in 2009, has stayed on as executive chairman.

A month after the deal, her husband resigned his directorship of Net-a-Porter to focus on his work as an investment banker.

He is not believed to own any shares in the site, which has made a profit every year since it was set up.

It turned over more than £120million last year and is believed to have 1,000 staff in London and New York.

The Massenets own a £1million cottage in Warminster, Wiltshire.

Katy Perry keeps her band waiting for an hour at the airport

'Sorry I'm late guys': Katy Perry smiles at her entourage as she finally arrives at her private plane at Sydney airport

One of the down points of working for an A-list stars is inevitably being kept waiting for them.

But when you're forced to wait around for your employer on a private jet, then perhaps we shouldn't feel too sorry for Katy Perry's minions.

The American singer kept her entourage waiting at Sydney airport for an hour ahead of a 90 minute flight to Brisbane.

I'm here guys: Perry has a large group of men waiting for her when she gets to the airport

When she eventually turned up, it appeared the 26-year-old couldn't be bothered to get dressed as she appeared to be wearing her pyjamas.

The California Gurls singer flew to Brisbane ahead of her gig tonight at the Queensland city's Entertainment Centre.

On Tuesday, she performed to thousands of fans at the Sydney Entertainment Centre after forming a friendship earlier this week with newcomer Jessie J.

Dressed down: It appears Katy didn't bother to get dressed out of her pyjamas after checking out of her Sydney hotel

Brit Award winner Jessie, who is promoting her debut album Down Under, checked out Perry's Sydney gig.

She wrote on Twitter: 'Just met Katy Perry. The show was incredible, she is beautiful and so sweet. I wish I had her boobs lol.'

In return, Perry Tweeted: 'Nice to meet you too, you're a DOLL. And p.s. the offer still stands... I'll trade my tits for your gams (legs).'

During her Sydney gig, Perry admitted she wasn't a fan of Vegemite spread, revealing she had actually thrown up after eating it.

After the Antipodean leg of her California Dreams tour wraps next week, Perry will take it to Asia, then to North America in June.

The 117-date tour ends in Dublin in November.

Thor heartthrob Chris Hemsworth left red-faced after being embarrassed with video of himself

Dancing king: Footage has emerged of Thor hunk Chris Hemsworth on Australia's Dancing With The Stars in 2006

Chris Hemsworth was left embarrassed earlier this week after being shown a video of himself performing on Australia's Dancing With The Stars.

During an interview on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Hemsworth, 27, was stunned when Leno surprised him with the footage.

And after watching the video of himself performing on the programme with partner Abbey Ross, Hemsworth, who is a huge star in his native Australia, admitted he never really felt comfortable with his dancing ability.

Embarrassed: Hemsworth was left red-faced after Jay Leno showed him the video

He said: 'I wasn't much of a dancer. You know, down at the pubs with your mates and a few beers having a dance is a little different than the ballroom. It doesn't really translate.'

In the video, former Home and Away star Hemsworth is seen wiggling and gyrating his way around the dancefloor, while wearing a fetching blue shirt and tight black trousers.

Hemsworth appeared on the programme in 2006, when he was enjoying huge celebrity success Down Under thanks to his role in Australian soap Home and Away.

I wasn't very good: Hemsworth told Leno he wasn't very confident in his dancing ability

But the actor has come a long way since then, and has played characters including Captain Kirk's father in the most recent Star Trek movie and landing the role of Thor alongside Natalie Portman.

Marie Osmond remarries her first husband... wearing the same dress as 29 years ago

By Chris Johnson

-Singer ties the knot in Las Vegas ceremony
-Day marks the birthdays of her late mother and son

Here comes the bride... again: Marie Osmond remarried her first husband Steve Craig today in Las Vegas

For Marie Osmond it was a case of something old, not something new, as she walked down the aisle for the second time with Steve Craig today.

For not only was the 51-year-old actress remarrying her first husband - she had also managed to squeeze herself into the very dress she wore 29 years ago.

And while she said it felt like the fitting thing to do, the Hollywood star confessed it was perhaps not the most comfortable to wear.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Marie revealed: 'I can't breathe, but I'm in it.'

Marie also told how she had got a new dress designed, but it didn't feel right when she saw the finished product.

'I had a dress all designed [for this wedding] and when it showed up it was not [right],' she told Entertainment Tonight's Mary Hart in an interview to be aired tomorrow.

'I was so sad, I was actually kind of in tears,' she recalled, adding: 'I was cleaning out my garage and all of a sudden this box showed up in this pile of stuff … and it was this dress and it was five days ago.

'I'm not kidding. Isn't that crazy?'

Of course she might not have been able to have got into her old dress at all if it wasn't for her dramatic weight loss over recent years.

The singer, a spokeswoman for the portion-controlled diet meals NutriSystem, dropped from a U.S. size 12/14 (British size 16/18) to a size 2/4 (British size 6/8) in four months in late 2007 after losing 45lbs.

Marie, who got married in a Las Vegas ceremony, described today as 'probably the most beautiful day I have had in I don't remember [how long]'.

It was a specially selected date to coincide with the birthday of her late mother and son Michael Bryan, who committed suicide aged 19 last year.

Nice day for a white wedding: The bride, with a bouquet in hand, has the flowing train on her dress held aloft

Take two: Marie and Steve pose for photographs after their nuptials

She also revealed how it was her 28-year-old son Stephen - her only child with Craig - who helped get them back together.

'It was our son who got us to kind of be back together, but [my husband] has been there for me and he's just my best friend, you know, and loves my kids,' she said.

Marie first married former semi-pro basketball player Steve in 1982 with the marriage lasting three years.

Back to the first choice: Marie pictured here with Steve in 1984, two years after wedding No1 and, right, with second husband Brian Blosil who she wed in 1986 before divorcing in 2007

In 1986 she walked down the aisle for the second time with Brian Blosil.

They went on to have two children together - Rachel and Matthew - as well as adopting five children, including Michael who killed himself last year by jumping from the eighth floor of his apartment building in Los Angeles.

Opening up about the wedding, Marie said: 'We chose this day to kind of have Michael here as well.

'It's his birthday, and my mom's birthday, and I don't know, I just kind of feel like she's been on the other side just kind of making this thing happen.'

Marie says she feels complete now, adding: 'Some things I guess were just always meant to be, and time makes you grow up and appreciate things.

'Life is good, you know?

'Everything has been perfect and we just both can't believe it. We're so happy.'

Steve was said to be a huge support to Marie following Michael's tragic death.

The teenager left a suicide note, explaining he intended to end his life after a lengthy battle with severe depression.

In 2007, aged 16, he entered a rehab facility with Marie praising him at the time for his 'courage' in facing his issues.

In the same year Marie and Blosil announced they were divorcing after 21 years of marriage.
