Singer Beyonce, who recently was in the spotlight for sporting skin that was paler than usual, was photographed wearing black face make-up for an African inspired magazine shoot. Beyonce, 29, took inspiration from African culture and wore head wraps as well as tribal-style clothing and accessories for the shoot for French fashion magazine L’Officiel Paris’ 90th-anniversary issue.
L’Officiel has said in a statement that Beyonce was “paying homage to African queens” and as a “return to her African roots, as you can see on the picture, on which her face was voluntarily darkened”. “As for the artistic make-up, the inspiration came from several African rituals during which paint is used on the face,” the Daily Mail quoted the magazine as saying.
“We find the images beautiful and inspiring. The designs are all reflective of the African influence on fashion this season. Miss Knowles poses with royal allure. A queen, a goddess, Beyonce is a bombshell beauty with a divine voice,” it added.
Singer Beyonce Knowles reveals she was a virgin until she met her husband Jay-Z.
"People would be surprised as to the lack of experiences I've had. When I was 12 or 13 I had my first boyfriend, and he was my boyfriend until I was 17. At that age, that was a long time. I've always been very loyal and a little more mature," femalefirst.co.uk quoted her as saying.
"Though I was too young for it to really be a boyfriend - we didn't live together, we didn't, you know...That was my only experience with a guy, and since then I've only had one other boyfriend in my life - Jay."
Beyonce who married Jay-Z in 2008 has revealed in the past that her friendships with women have stopped her from getting tied up in unhealthy relationships with men.
"I think I am a feminist in a way. It's not something I consciously decided I was going to be; perhaps it's because I grew up in a singing group with other women, and that was so helpful to me. It kept me out of so much trouble and out of bad relationships," she said.
Gwyneth Paltrow has credited superstar pals Beyonce and Faith Hill with helping her to shake off her nerves ahead of her singing debut at Wednesday night's Country Music Association Awards.
The Oscar-winner hit the stage with Vince Gill to belt out the theme tune to her new movie 'Country Strong', in which she plays Tim McGraw''s alcoholic wife, reports the Daily Express.
The performance, Paltrow''s first major live show as a singer, earned her a standing ovation at the Bridgestone Arena in the country music mecca of Nashville, Tennessee.
And the actress reveals she''s "lucky" to know superstars Beyonce and Hill "in real life" - because they were instrumental in teaching her how to overcome her fears.
"I kind of asked my girl singer friends (for advice). I asked Faith (Hill) a lot of questions - and Beyonce, actually, too," Paltrow told U.S. news programme Access Hollywood.
The actress also admitted she had "studied" the Halo hitmaker''s previous live shows to pick up tips on how to appear confident onstage.
Kendra Wilkinson is a hot siren herself, but can’t stop gushing about her favourites in Hollywood – especially Beyonce Knowles' derriere, which she likes so much that she would like to bite it.
The former Playboy Playmate couldn’t stop praising Scarlett Johansson and Beyoncé at Svedka's BartonBotCamp at David Barton Gym, reports The New York Post.
Wilkerson said that she loves Johansson's legs and lips because she has sexiness without trying.
And she finds Beyoncé's butt so nice that she 'wants to just bite it!' Her own body, however, is reserved for Philadelphia Eagle Hank Baskett and she's nicknamed her legs 'Hank's happy trail.'
Beyonce is facing another backlash from Islamic groups - conservative Muslims in Egypt fear her upcoming concert will threaten the country's "social peace and stability".
The Crazy In Love superstar is due to take her I Am... world tour to the mostly Muslim nation on Friday (06Nov09).
But strict Islamic groups have complained to the government for allowing the show to go ahead, branding it an "insolent sex party".
In a letter to authorities, a representative for opposition group Muslim Brotherhood writes, "Why are you encouraging this insolent sex party? You are accused of disturbing social peace and stability, encouraging viceand debauchery".
We should salute her instead of criticising her
The criticism mirrors similar outrage in Malaysia last month (Oct09), when Muslim leaders led protests against Beyonce's sexy on-stage antics.
The star subsequently scrapped her concert in the capital, Kuala Lumpur.
However, the Egyptian event organiser has dismissed the criticisms - insisting not all Muslims are offended by Beyonce's performances.
Ahmed Beltagi says, "We are Muslims too... this will not stop Egypt from hosting an award-winning, first class artist. We should salute her instead of criticising her".
Beyonce attends a meet and greet for Japanese handbag designer Samantha Thavasa at Studio Mouris Roppongi in Tokyo, Japan on Friday (October 16).
The 28-year-old R&B singer is on the last legs of her “I Am” world tour and is currently performing in Asia with a few concerts in Japan followed by performances in China.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Beyonce will be collaborating with Lady Gaga for a video.
NEW YORK, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The cancellation of the launch party for Beyonce's "I AM..." tour, first scheduled for this Saturday at M2, was a result of a breach of contract by the promoter. Beyonce never had a contract with the club itself and no one in her camp dealt directly with the venue. The superstar was never scheduled to perform but was to serve as a co-host and introduce singer/songwriter Solange's performance. Patrons were falsely promised a performance by Beyonce.

After the news broke out that Jay-Z and Beyonce are getting married, then came the confirmation that the couple got married already according to Mary J. Blige. Now, rumor has it that our Beyonce is said to be pregnant. Ok! Another celebrity on the knocked-up list I guess. If the rumors are true then let’s all wait folks. Take a look at the recent photo of Beyonce. Is there any baby bump? Can you see it cause I can’t. My eyes hurt I need to sleep. Lol!
Beyonce Knowles poses in a pair of jeans for House of Dereon brand clothing.
According to Anythinghollywood.com, Beyonce Knowles knows how to seduce her fans into purchasing her brand, House of Dereon jeans. It appears topless photos are “in” right now, because just a few weeks after Keira Knightley made her decision to pose topless for Interview Magazine (and a Chanel ad), Beyonce is doing the same. In her new racy ad, Beyonce is wearing a pair of tight jeans, and that’s all.
A source told News of the World, “Bey wanted to show just how seductive the label can be.” She did a good job. The jeans are quite tight, and have a “squiggly,” which is supposed to be a Fleur-de-Lis (a symbol of the French monarchy), on the back pockets.
Beyonce may not have a single $100 million deal, but her list of endorsements in 2007 alone is enormous: American Express, her Samsung B'Phone, her Armani Diamonds perfume, her appearance in Disneyland's ad campaign as Alice from 'Alice in Wonderland,' her Direct TV ad and her continuing L'Oreal cosmetics contract.
As the face of her own clothing lines run with her family, Dereon, and now Dereon Junior launched in 2007, Beyonce is everywhere and pulling in product-related cash from almost every commodity category. Her level of exposure, combined with the number, quality and diversity of her endorsement deals makes Beyonce BV's Top Black Celebrity Endorser of 2007.
A poster featuring BEYONCE KNOWLES has been labelled obscene by shocked Las Vegas residents.
The bikini-clad Bootylicious star appears in giant form on a massive advertising hoarding for a local radio station and locals have found the racy pic too much to stomach.
They’re demanding it be torn down before it offends their sensibilities too greatly.
One resident said: “It’s obscene. I have my two little grandkids coming over here, and they don’t need to be seeing that.
“You can change the channel on the TV but you can’t change that.”
Pleasingly, city officials will not be swayed by the more prudish elements of the public and have assured the radio station the offending image can stay.
The station manger said: “The billboards were taken from publicity shots and this is the way those people perform.
“So, to show them in a jogging suit probably wouldn’t be the right thing.
“It complies with all the locational criteria that are set out in our code of conduct.”
Was Beyoncé Knowles dangerously overexposed at her recent concert in Toronto?
Amateur video footage of the 25-year-old star suffering an apparent wardrobe malfunction onstage was making the rounds on the Internet Wednesday. The blurry split-second shot seems to show Knowles' top flying up and exposing her bare breasts as she performs.
However, despite how it may look on tape, the singer's rep insists that Knowles remained decent throughout the show, thanks to her well-coordinated undergarments.
"She was wearing a bra that perfectly matches her costume," the singer's publicist told E! News.
The so-called flashing isn't the first semi-calamity to befall Knowles' Beyoncé Experience Tour.
Last month, she tumbled face first down a flight of stair while performing in Orlando, but quickly recovered, almost without missing a beat.
Though the singer good-naturedly asked fans not to put footage of her tumble on YouTube, they didn't obey her wishes and the clip was soon widely circulated.
In early July, two fans were injured at Knowles' performance in St. Louis when pyrotechnics meant for the stage tumbled into the audience. After her show, the singer graciously paid the concertgoers a visit in the hospital to make sure they were doing okay (and ostensibly to fend off any potential lawsuits).
Knowles was due to continue her tour Wednesday night in Denver.
